What You Should Know about the Galaxy Tab S8 Series

①OLED displays for Galaxy Tab S8 S+ & Ultra, ②120Hz refresh rate, ③ Ultra-wide front camera, ④ Low Latency S Pen, and ➄ DeX mode are some of the many functions that make the Galaxy Tab S8 series outshine other tablets in the market.

*Refresh rate: how often the frame can change; higher refresh rate means that the display provides smoother and sharper image viewing experience
**Low latency: feels like gliding a pen across paper in real life with 2.8ms speed measured for Tab S8 Ultra and Tab S8+ models
***DeX mode: a software platform that creates a “desktop PC-like” experience for your tablet/smartphone

Did you know that 45% of all smartphones sold in 2022 are expected to feature OLED panels (Trendforce) ? With a wider color range, fuller viewing angle, lower power consumption, blacker blacks and brighter whites - OLEDs are not only alluring but exceptionally thin. In fact, the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra with OLED boasts the thinnest ever bezels at 6.3mm for a maximum screen-to-body ratio. Thanks to its immersive design, pre-orders for the Tab S8 series "more than doubled" than that for the predecessors, with the high-end Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra responsible for almost half of all sales. Now you can enjoy this scrumptiously beautiful OLED on Samsung's latest tablets!

Next, we’ve got the 120Hz refresh rate. What is even a refresh rate? Simply put, a higher refresh rate makes your phone feel smoother when scrolling through apps or watching high-quality videos. Most of the flagship smartphones have adopted 120Hz refresh rate displays, making it one of the exciting tech trends, and we now have tablets that offer the same viewing experience!

Beyond the outstanding display features, the Galaxy Tab S8 series will wow you with an ultra-wide front camera with professional 4K video quality, S Pen that feels like writing on paper in real life with 2.8ms speed*, and a “desktop PC-like” experience recreated with DeX mode.

As a true multi-functional productivity and creativity powerhouses, this flagship tablet lineup allows users to fully immerse themselves in both work and play.

OLED Display on Galaxy Tab S8+ and S8 Ultra: Why People Love Them

"If you showed this to someone 15 years ago, they would think it's impossible… The screen is just awesome, and there's a bunch of things that combined to make it probably the most impressive I've ever seen in a tablet." Marques Brownlee, one of the biggest tech reviewers with 15.3 million subscribers on YouTube, mentioned the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra as "the largest OLED touchscreen I've ever used."

“It is A grade - one of the best tablet screens out there” according to TechTablets. “The screen is very very good. It's bright; it's OLED; it's 120Hz and I've got zero complaints with it apart from it not having DC dimming*.”

*DC dimming is a type of technology used to control the screen brightness

Brad Colbow, who reviews tech from a designer/illustrator point of view, noted in his Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra Review video that "this tablet seriously does fit that ultra label well": “If you can see yourself using this as a drawing tablet for Windows [as a second screen], it's actually really good. I did not expect it to be this good.”

With Great Power Comes Great Productivity

OLEDs have changed the industry standards for smartphones and laptops in the past few years, and tablets are no different: Tablet OLED displays are expected to see a 49% CAGR shipments growth until 2026. With Apple expecting to introduce its first OLED iPad in 2024, demand for tablet displays is likely to increase by 126% in 2024 (DCSS). If your phone comes with better image quality, faster response times and reduced power consumption thanks to OLED panels, why should you expect any less from tablets?

Here at Samsung Display, we believe that with great power comes great productivity: From multitasking to watching the latest shows on Netflix, your OLED displays will provide the best viewing experience optimized according to your needs. As OLED penetration in the tablet market grows, Samsung Display will continue to futurize technology for consumers around the world.
