Company to showcase QD-OLED’s excellence in front of representatives from Disney, Universal Pictures, Netflix, Warner Bros. and more.

Samsung Display today announced that it is hosting the ‘Hollywood Reveal’ event, which will be held from May 31 until June 1 at the Sheraton Universal Hotel in Los Angeles, California. The event showcases QD-OLED’s excellence to representatives from major Hollywood movie studios and video production experts.

‘Hollywood Reveal’, being held for the second time following the inaugural event last year, was attended by image quality experts and representatives from 12 video production companies such as The Walt Disney Company, Netflix, Universal Pictures and Warner Bros. Entertainment.

At the event, Samsung Display introduced the advantages of the 2023 QD-OLED, which produces even clearer and brighter images than last year’s model by leveraging the application of advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technology, IntelliSense AI 2.0 and the new HyperEfficient EL materials. The company also showcased the 49-inch ultra-wide QD-OLED for monitors and ultra-large 77-inch QD-OLED for TVs, which were both released this year.

In addition, a darkroom has been set up to recreate the filmmaking environment where visitors can compare the colors produced by the 65-inch QD-OLED and conventional displays against a mastering monitor[1]. Typically, a mastering monitor is referenced while producing a film or broadcast content to accurately reproduce the color desired by the director.

Video production experts who attended the event remarked that the color luminance and color volume of the 2023 QD-OLED are impressive, and the expression of the HDR content is excellent. They also mentioned that it is astonishing that the color on QD-OLED represents the closest to what Hollywood video content professionals are looking for.

“Accurate color representation is crucial in the process of creating video content for audiences and viewers to enjoy great content,” said Samsung Display. “The event is organized for professionals in the film industry to experience the excellence of QD-OLEDs with industry-leading color representation.”

Along with QD-OLED, Samsung Display exhibited new display form factors that were first unveiled at CES 2023 and are changing the OLED paradigm. These included the Flex HybridTM, which combines foldable and slidable technology, and Slidable Flex SoloTM which can expand from a 13-inch screen to a 17-inch.

Samsung Display will continue to engage with experts in the video production industry to develop products that will satisfy consumers as well as professional users.
