QD-OLED, a state-of-the-art display technology, headed to Hollywood, the epicenter of the film industry, after captivating the audience with its unmatched image quality at the SID Display Week 2023 in Los Angeles, USA.
Samsung Display hosted Hollywood Reveal at the Sheraton Universal Hotel in Los Angeles from May 31 to June 1. The event, which was held for the second time following the inaugural year in 2022, brought together representatives from major Hollywood film production companies and video content experts.
Representatives from prominent companies in the global film industry including Walt Disney Studios, Universal Pictures, Warner Bros. and Netflix were able to delve into the 2023 QD-OLED, a cutting-edge technology that combines advanced AI and the latest organic materials. They also had the opportunity to experience the excellence of QD-OLED by comparing it to conventional displays.

Experiencing the Evolution of QD-OLEDs

After the briefing, we showcased the 49-inch ultra-wide QD-OLED for monitors and ultra-large 77-inch QD-OLED for TVs, both released this year, so that the attendees could experience the sharpness and brightness of the 2023 models. "As introduced in Samsung’s presentation, I was able to see how the 2023 QD-OLEDs have evolved and advanced from the previous models," said one attendee.

Experiencing the QD-OLED mastering monitor
In addition, a darkroom was set up to recreate a filmmaking environment, allowing attendees to experience the colors produced by QD-OLED in comparison to a 'mastering monitor.’ One participant who compared the two displays commented, "The image quality of QD-OLED is the closest to professional monitors used in studios, and the vibrancy of the colors is better than any display I've ever seen."

Showcasing Future OLED Form Factors
In addition to QD-OLED, Samsung Display showcased the latest OLED form factors at the Hollywood Reveal, including the Slidable Flex Solo™, which expands a 13-inch tablet to a 17-inch screen, and the Flex Hybrid™, which combines both foldable and slidable technologies. Attendees were thrilled by their hands-on experience with these futuristic, cutting edge products. Many of them expressed their excitement by saying "I can't wait to see what else Samsung Display has in store for us."
