Full Screen Button Free FoD (Fingerprint on Display) Fingerprint on Display(FoD) is a technology that embeds a fingerprint sensor beneath the display, allowing users to unlock a device by touching the screen. By integrating the sensor into the display, FoD removes the need for physical buttons or rear fingerprint sensors, enabling larger screens and slimmer designs. OLED is well suited for FoD. As a self-emissive display, OLED does not use a backlight, making FoD easier to implement on OLED than on LCDs.

The reflected light from fingerprint patterns is captured by a sensor to create and recognize a fingerprint image. It has a simple structure and is widely used due to easy implementation. Ultrasonic type detects the ridges and valleys of a fingerprint using sound waves. Ultrasonic signals are emitted and the reflected signals are analyzed to create a 3D fingerprint map. Although more complex, it offers higher accuracy and security and is mainly used in premium smartphones.
