EP. 48 PDL Pixel Define Layer Display Glossary.zip
PDL PDL Pixel Define Layer The Pixel Define Layer (PDL) is an insulating layer that defines the light-emitting areas of OLED pixels and separates individual sub-pixels. OLED displays use organic materials that emit their own light. Before the organic light-emitting layer is formed, the PDL is patterned through photolithography, surrounding the areas where light is emitted.

It defines each sub-pixel's light-emitting area and helps maintain clear boundaries between adjacent sub-pixels for stable light emission. The PDL also insulates the edges of the anode, preventing direct contact with the cathode. This helps minimize electrical defects, such as current leakage and short circuits.
